Cheap sports car for trade up?

Hi, I am looking to upgrade my car to some thing a little bit faster. I currently own a Honda CRV 2001. I t has 93,000 miles on it and have been told I can get 5k+ for it from dealers because of its condition. I would like to buy a more sports like car. I have been looking at the Mitsubishi lancer evo some but can not find any for sale used really. My price range depends on how much I get for my current car. I would also like the car to be stick if possible. I guess my spending limit will probably be 9k-12k. I am currently working at a body shop so parts are not as hard to come by. So I can fix it up, but I would like it if it was in fairly good condition. I have been told since the car market has taken such a hit I should be able to get more for my buck. Thank you any one and every one for your help and incite.
I never said my honda CRV was a sports car -.- I said I wanted to upgrade to a faster car that fits into the sports car catagory. In fact adding the upgrade part was just to make the title long enough to be submitted.

Consider an used BMW Z3. If you need 4 doors then I’d look at the last couple of generations of the Audi A4.

OK you say your looking for an upgrade.
a crv is not a sports car.
a Lancer evo is fast, much faster than the crv.
    but it is very unreliable.
since your in the category of thinking a 4 cylinder qualifies as a sports car. I am thinking your young.
OK so DUDE get mustang. It will make your honda look your neighbors John Dear …..
    No offense.

Always being on the lookout myself for “value” sports cars, here’s a list of potential targets:
    2003-2005 Volkswagen GTI
    1997-1999 BMW M3 Coupe
    2002 Audi TT Coupe
    2002 BMW 330i or 330ci
1998-2000 Chevrolet Corvette (if you find a deal)
    2001-2002 Audi S4
    1992-2002 Mazda Miata
    2006 Acura RSX Type-S

It depends on your tastes, of course. I think the most bang for the buck is the newest turbocharged VW GTI you can find in your price range.
